The Affinity Collector 2 Cover Art sneak peek!

I'll be putting the book up for pre-order very soon, but i wanted to share with you all the cover for The Affinity Collector 2!

View Post

Plans for Feb 15-20

It has started! The first 4 chapters of The Affinity Collector 2 are now up :)

I'm always a little slow getting chapters written when I start a new book, at least for continuing series, as I get used to the world again, but hopefully next week will have an increase in my output. I have a few things that I need to take care of next week, namely editing The Affinity Collector 1 again after I received the edits from my narrator (which means the audiobook should be coming soon!), as well ...

The Affinity Collector 2 -- Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Jeremy finally had to use his Abilities against the [Burning Goblins] in the next route, which were 4-foot-tall humanoid-looking monsters with reddish-colored thick skin and burning, rusty metal swords that looked like they could actually hurt him if they managed to make contact.  Fortunately, they were fairly slow even though they were Level 5, so it was easy enough for him to stay out of their reach as he primarily used the Abilities he had that weren’t yet at reser...

The Affinity Collector 2 -- Chapter 3

Chapter 3

While he didn’t have a perfect view of the safe zone from his now-camouflaged hollow, if he moved to the edge of where his new enchantment was hiding him, he could somewhat see into the area – even if he wasn’t quite close enough to see or hear them clearly.  What he could tell, though, was that the individuals who entered the Rift didn’t appear to be looking for him, as they immediately moved toward one of the higher-Level routes.  He had no idea ...

The Affinity Collector 2 -- Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Cleaning up the last of the blood near the Rift entrance, Jeremy made a deliberate decision to avoid the safe area as much as possible from that point on.  Not because he didn’t believe in being safe, but because the risk of someone else coming into the Rift and finding him there was too great.  Unlike the other 2 Rifts that he’d been trapped inside, The Sleeper’s Lair was open to other Defenders and even more students from Fandermere Academy coming inside to...

The Affinity Collector 2 -- Recap/Chapter 1

Recap

Weldin Collsmith had just received his Goddess-given Affinities after turning 8 years old, when the celebration was interrupted by a mysterious, homicidal figure that attacked the other children and sent Weldin flying through a destabilized portal.  Ending up in a Rift which was far above his own Level and extraordinarily dangerous, the scared-but-resourceful 8-year-old used the sword and knife his blacksmith father had given him to survive against the Dark-aligned monsters...

Plans for Feb 8-13

I finished the editing and revisions for Enthralled Healer this week, as well as writing the blurb and putting it up for pre-order -- it comes out on February 25th. It's with the beta-readers now, which will hopefully give me some more edits and feedback to make it even better.

Based on my poll last Friday, I'll be starting to write The Affinity Collector 2 on Monday; I'll be starting the planning at that time, so there may not be a chapter that first day, but they'll come soon after. ...

Plans for Feb 1-6

I did it! I finally finished Healer Arc 2 Book 1 (Enthralled Healer)! I'll be releasing some chapters for my $2/$5 Patrons starting on Sunday, and I'll continue to release them leading up to its publication on amazon toward the end of February.

Next week, there will be no new chapters, as I'll be editing, making revisions for story improvements (for instance, did you know that--as it is written--there is an insta-kill combination of spells and advancements that I accidentally created?...

Healer Arc 2 -- Chapter 41

Chapter 41

“Sadia?  Are you back yet?”

Thaden rubbed at his eyes, wiping the sleep out of them before he stretched his arms above his head, feeling pleasantly rested for the first time in what felt like years.  He opened his eyes, hoping to see his squirrel companion nearby, but there was no response.  Looking out the window, he deduced that it had only been about 10 hours since the battle outside the walls of Teglir, so he probably had to wait another few hou...

Chapter 40

Thaden felt like a mountain was sitting on his back, keeping him squished against the dirt of the hole he’d found himself in not too long before.  Unable to see anything going on around him, he slowly crawled up the side of the hole, the effort involved just as colossal as the size of the monsters forcing their Level Compression down on him.  He had almost entirely forgotten about the annoying phenomenon, as he hadn’t encountered it yet on Plangea, bu...

Chapter 39

The Human was insane.

At least, that was what she thought when he said he was going out in the middle of the fight with only a few Fighters to keep him safe.  Now, though, Bat’la’hera had to admit that he was much stronger than she expected – impossibly so.  Then again, she should’ve gathered that much since she met him back in Purbooth.

He survived the attack on Felith, whereas everyone else in the town had died.

If that wasn’t ...

Healer Arc 2 -- Chapter 38

Chapter 38

It didn’t take long before Thaden’s army of minions topped 50, and fairly soon after that it hit 100.  Because they were fairly even Level with him, there was no strain on his mind controlling that many, in addition to his Mentality being higher than it was the last time he’d controlled so many monsters, and he thought he could add quite a few hundred more before he had to worry about his mind being able to handle it.  For each new Goram under his control, T...

Chapter 37

Stepping up to the edge of the wall, Thaden strained to make out what was coming toward the city.  Once they were less than a mile away, he could finally make out the individual monsters that were running at full speed, strangely organized so that they were like an unstoppable wave that would hit the walls at the same time.  Unlike what he halfway expected, which was that they might be facing dozens or even hundreds of different monsters all pushed together in an ...

Chapter 36

“You knew this was coming.  I still don’t understand what’s going on with you, or even who you really are, but I’ve seen what you can do.  I—we—trust you to do what needs to be done to keep the city safe.”

As he stood up on the high walls of Teglir, along with thousands of other Combat Classes over Level 50 and Adventurers ranging from Level 15 to a few that he saw topping Level 90, Thaden looked off into the distance, trying ...

Chapter 35

Feeling the control over his minions snap once he cautiously made his way through the only door in the room, up the stairs, and through a busy-looking warehouse half-filled with enormous crates and linen bags that seemed to be filled with some sort of grain.  They didn’t disconnect entirely until he was out on the docks itself, and while he could only hope that his Spirit Lock had continued working its magic, keeping the Local Legion frozen in place ...

Chapter 34

The moment that Thaden was taken off of Glory’s Passage and brought to an undisclosed location had been a frightening experience, even if it didn’t last all that long.  After the initial unpleasantness where the cloth over his head suddenly drained all of the Mana out of his body, prompting his unconsciousness, he had woken up to find himself being manhandled through the alleyways and minor streets of Teglir, until he was fairly sure he had passed back through the ...

Enthralled Healer Cover Sneak Peek!

Here is the cover for my newest series, the 2nd Healer arc, which is titled Enthralled Healer! I'll probably be putting it up for pre-order once I finish the story, which I expect will publish toward the end of February.

Healer Arc 2 -- Chapter 33

Chapter 33

Bat’la’hera nodded toward the metal framework of a chair they had created shortly before, and Zarin quickly and efficiently placed the unconscious Human on the structure, quickly using his surprisingly deft set of 6 hands to tie him down around his ankles, knees, waist, upper chest, elbows, wrists, and neck.  The steel cord he used was thin but virtually unbreakable to anyone with less than 2,000 Physicality, which their captive was extremely unlikely to possess gi...

Only 1 chapter today, as the next one is longer than I expected it to be! Next week, I'm expecting to finish the book by Friday, and I don't have any other plans but to write :)

As a reminder, once I finish writing it, I'll be releasing chapters for my $2 and $5 Patrons leading up to its publication on Kindle, which will likely be toward the end of February.

Healer Arc 2 -- Chapter 32

Chapter 32

An additional 300 points or so in his Celerity stat, which practically tripled what he had before he’d gone through his last round of messages, made a huge difference in how fast Thaden could move.  Of course, he couldn’t simply run down Glory’s Passage with abandon, where he might run into people at incredible speeds, but his additional speed and surefootedness certainly helped him to move through the crowds filling the thoroughfare without having to slow down o...

Chapter 31

Thaden stretched with a big yawn as he woke up feeling relaxed and physically recovered, although he was quite hungry – and then his mind began to panic as it remembered what had happened during his Class Evolution.  His eyes snapped open as he sat up, finding Sadia sitting next to the bed staring at him.

“Sadia!  You should’ve woken me up!  Who knows how much time we have?!” he practically shouted as he threw himself out of the bed, momentarily...

Healer Arc 2 -- Chapter 30

(As a heads-up, this is the final chapter for my $5 Patrons until the book is finished, when I will begin periodically releasing all of them leading up to its release on Kindle)

Chapter 30

“—aden!  Are you alright?!”

He was glad he was laying down on the bed like he usually tried to do when checking his messages, because Thaden was in so much pain that it made his previous experience with opening his messages feel like a tap on the shoulder.  Even ...

Chapter 29

Thaden was thankful that he didn’t have to deal with Assimilators to choose his evolved Class, as they had always unnerved him a bit.  He still remembered having to deal with the creepy alien-like beings back on Tarth, including their first meeting when he had been Level 21.  The only difference from when he was gaining his first evolved Class and now – other than not having to deal with Assimilators acting as Class Representatives – was that he was a Novice...

Chapter 28

As he somewhat expected, the rush of messages and the influx of energy flowing into him was incredibly discomforting, but it was far from the worse that he’d ever experienced – it didn’t even knock him out!  He took that as a win; for a few seconds, as his body adjusted to the changes, he somewhat wished that he had succumbed to unconsciousness, but that feeling passed quickly enough that it didn’t bother him too much.  By the time he had almost fully reco...

“Are you sure our target is here?” Bat’la’hera asked shortly, looking at the busy gate leading into the city of Teglir.  She was in a terrible mood after the last day filled with confusion and more than a few excuses.

Narden was equally frustrated, as he blamed himself for the unfortunate detours that they had taken without any clear result.  “Not 100%, but I’m detecting at least a hint of his energy signature.”

“Why, by the divine System’s greatness, do I feel like I’ve run 100 miles, had my entire body squeezed and pummeled, and my head pounded on by a hammer?”

Thaden watched and listened as Flarenia groaned in pain and exhaustion, holding her head in her hands as she struggled to sit up from where she’d collapsed.  Lovinia did the same right next to her, panting heavily as if she’d just run a marathon.

I got through most of a second chapter today, but I was unable to finish it because I had to stop work early due to a family function. I'll finish it on Monday!

Next week, I will be spending Sunday working on the title, series, and cover ideas for Healer arc 2 book 1. After that, I might get a chance to write, but I can't guarantee it. As far as I know right now, I don't have any other plans Monday-Friday other than to write!

Healer Arc 2 -- Chapter 25

Chapter 25

Darkness descended upon the area underneath the trees, as the full foliage above blocked out the sun that had been beating down on them for hours.  It was both a welcome relief and a warning, because with the loss of full sunlight, the forest they entered had a sinister aspect to it.  That didn’t stop Thaden, of course, as he spread his army of Beezards and Floral Scourges out ahead of him and his Party, who was staying near him instead of hanging back and out o...
